Median duration · frequent hot flashes or night sweats

The 7.4-year estimate is the median total duration of frequent vasomotor symptoms in an analytic sample of 1,449 SWAN participants. Frequent means hot flashes or night sweats on at least 6 of the previous 14 days at one or more visits. This is observational cohort evidence, not a universal duration or individual prediction.
